Texas — The Texas Young Democrats (TYD) announced today that Jen Ramos, who has served as TYD’s director of Communications since 2017, will be stepping down from her role. She will continue to serve as president of the Austin Young Democrats, TYD’s largest chapter. Ramos was first appointed as deputy director of Communications in 2016 and was subsequently promoted the next year.
President Kolby Duhon announced that J.J. Martinez, formerly deputy director of Communications, will serve as interim director of Communications.
“In her time with our organization, Jen revolutionized our Communications program,” said President Duhon. “I'm incredibly proud of her growth during her tenure and know we are better off because of her dedicated service and the bench she has helped build”
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve the Texas Young Democrats for the past four years. During my time with the organization, we have seen young Democrats not only find their voices in the political landscape but become the leaders of a generation,” said Jen Ramos. “I leave my role knowing the organization will continue to uplift, support, and inspire the present and future of our party. I am thankful for the opportunity to have served the Texas Young Democrats.”
“I’m incredibly thankful to Jen for her mentorship,” said J.J. Martinez. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve the Texas Young Democrats and look forward to doing the hard and necessary work needed into November and beyond.”
J.J. Martinez has served as deputy director of Communications since 2018. Previously, he was the director of Communications for the El Paso County Democratic Party. Martinez currently serves as Communications Director for the Texas College Democrats and is working on a local campaign in El Paso as director of design.
Martinez is attending The University of Texas at El Paso, working to earn a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy.
Interim Director of Communications
